DUBLIN, Ireland: Coffeewerk + Press, located on Quay Street in Galway city center, ranked 39th on the prestigious list—it is the only Irish cafe to make the cut.
The ranking was published in the inaugural edition of The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops, an international guide celebrating top-tier coffee establishments worldwide.
Sharing the news on Instagram, Coffeewerk + Press expressed their gratitude: "We are incredibly honored to be part of The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops. This is all thanks to our exceptional team, both past and present, whose dedication and passion make it possible."
In another post, the cafe reflected on its journey, saying: "To be part of the first edition as the only cafe from Ireland is a real testament to all our wonderful staff. As I reflect over the past ten years, I am truly grateful for all the special moments we get to experience because of our little home in this small vibrant city."
The selection process involved both self-submissions and nominations, followed by an expert judging panel and a public vote, which accounted for 30 percent of the final score.
Cafes were evaluated based on several criteria, including quality of coffee, barista expertise, customer service, innovation and ambience, sustainability practices and consistency in offerings.
The Financial Times previously recognized Coffeewerk + Press as one of the top 30 cafes in the world, further cementing its reputation for excellence.
The top-ranking coffee shop on this year's list was Toby's Estate Coffee Roasters in Australia, followed by Onyx Coffee Lab in Arkansas, USA, and Gota Coffee Experts in Austria. The list also featured standout cafés from Malaysia, Japan, Romania, the UK, and beyond.
This latest recognition places Galway firmly on the map for coffee lovers, proving that Ireland's specialty coffee scene is world-class.
